Kevin - Something is causing too much current draw through it, check all the
connections to the plug and redo them even if they look good. Even better,
replace the plug - could be that the bad connection is right there. Once the
plastic melts, it'll turn brittle and eventually break on you, guaranteed at the
coldest point in your ride.

Dang, I was hoping it would be Saturday. Of course if the snow comes and
the roads get salted it may not happen at all.

On a side note, my Gerbing jacket is having problems. Seems the plug for
the BMW socket is overheating to the point it is melting the plastic around
the center post on the insulation on the wire to the center post of the
plug. Any ideas what may have caused this problem or how to fix it?

For whatever reason (probably the pilot), my scheduled MSTA ride for this
coming Friday is not getting the automated notification sent out.

What: Turkey Ride
When: Friday Nov 27th (could be moved to Sat or Sun dependent on the
weather.)
Where: Ride starts at Holiday at the intersection of Point Douglas and
Highway 61. (Top of the hill north of Hastings)
Time: Kickstands up at 9:30

Paul Kolbo invites you to join his annual day-after-Thanksgiving Sport
Touring ride. This ride starts in Hastings and ends in Prescott and covers
~300 miles of the choice roads on the east side
of MN and west side of Wisconsin. Ride includes favorite roads through
Welch, Lake City and Wabasha, Arcadia, Durand, Pepin. Weather rules apply.
There will be no ride if rain or snow on ride day (or rain with freezing
temps the night before.) Day subject to change between Friday, Saturday and
Sunday. I love this ride and it's been (relatively) great the last three
years with temps in the mid-40's. I would not suggest this ride for
beginners since there is the liklihood of riding after dark. Riders with
auxiliary lights are enouraged to attend.

$2 Guiness? That's like a meal in a glass for cheap! I'll have to stop by, but
I'll probably be there around 4:00, so I'll be sitting at the bar enjoying my
Irish liquid dinner.

The cobalt blue looks great to me. Maybe the best color for that bike. Hope to

Well and good! I smiled when I saw you out there and thought there might be
a connection to the handsome FJR. Glad to hear that you're bouncing back.

Yes that was me, you had a big group of dual sport bikes. My old silver FJR is
gone (totaled... sniff) and replaced with the cobalt blue model. I couldn't pass
up a ride for such a nice day. But I'm taking it easy for now, still healing

I had to look up what chicken spears where myself. From what I could gather,
they are those appetizers with the wooden skewer through them.

I just couldn't help but laugh at the radomness of the guy saying that - noise
for no good reason.

I have now made ringtones for my phone out of the restaurant scene and the
bathroom scene.

Click here for the route sheet
<http://www.mn- msta.com/ 11-08-09% 20Around% 20Arcadia% 20Ride.pdf>

The route is comprised of a route from Nelson to Arcadia, 3 different
route loops around Arcadia and a route from Arcadia to Nelson.

CYA tomorrow.

Thanks, Ray. However, I don't think I'll be changing my name to CoverGirl
anytime soon. It was a much more flattering pic of the bike than of me!

I'm thrilled to have gotten Paul's VFR on the cover, and very honored to have
had the opportunity to document my first major solo cross-country trip in
STAReview. It was a wonderful experience.

For anyone interested, the pics from my trip are up here:

Chuck at STAReview has kindly invited me to stay on as an editor at large, so
you may be seeing more from me in the coming year. I did a short write up of the
Frosty Pumpkin ride, but it may or may not make it in the next issue. Keep your
eyes peeled!

A group MSTA event ride sound good. How about heading to Taos, NM in June for
STAR 2010?
