RE: [Locost_Oz] Hello all.... Live Rear or IRS?

G’day Edward.

Without a doubt you should have both books. They are a great reference,
just look on 2nd hand book sites you can find it really cheaply at times.

You should also buy “How to build and modify sportscar and kit car
suspension and brakes for road and track”. Also a good basic read.

Or just get your local library to get them in.

IRS handbells better, can be more fiddley to set up (unless you use an
entire cradle from a donor) and is arguably more expensive. You just have
to ask yourself, what do YOU want? This is a VERY personal journey.

There are full sets of plans available for download. With Australian
modifications to get it through engineering.

There are many people in Australia and around the world who are building
7’s. For each personal building a seven will there will be a different
perfect was of “achieving the dream”. Some of us are restriced to choice
from a budgetary reasons, actual building space, time constraints, ability,
access to machinery etc etc etc. Have a really good look at what you want,
make a plan including parts, aim for a minimum of $8000 to $10000 and get
stuck into it. It’s great fun.

Now you have to size yourself up, I went for a +100 chassis (formula motor
sport plans actually) due to my bum being large.

Good luck..

Les.

Subject: [Locost_Oz] Hello all.... Live Rear or IRS?

Hello to all you fellow locost builders out there.

I've just picked up a copy of 'Build your own sports car on a budget'
and its a great book... But it has raised a question/concern for me.
The book i9 have focuses on IRS and i do understand the advantages of
it, but is it worth the hassle?

Should I purchase a copy of 'Build Your Own Sports Car For As Little
As £250 - And Race It!'? or should i try and deal with IRS?

Are there plans for a live rear available for download?

Sorry if this all sounds silly.

Thanks in advance,
Edward.
