Ok All,
Need to tell you some thing.
I have put the trikes up for now. I am going to get into all of my stuff and
move some along out of my way. I made an agreement with my wife. We are looking
for some land that we can afford – getting this place ready to get rid of – and
hoping to accomplish this by next year.
Also. . . she let me get another something that I had to get rid of a long time
ago.
I am now a proud owner of a 1969 VW Karmann Ghia.
I had to get rid of my other 69 Ghia shortly after we got married. To me it is
the next best thing to a 356 Speedster.
So now I have my Ghia back. She also made me agree to keep working on my trikes.
I got a storage unit and have started to move everything into it. It will give
me some time to go through my stuff and start getting rid of what I can….
So now you know where I have been and what is going on. I am not giving up on
the trikes…NOT AT ALL…I am just putting life in front of the trikes.

The trike has traditional automotive steering geometry, it will want to lean to
the outside of a turn. I have designed an anti-roll bar into the suspension to
help keep the body lean to a minimum.
Thanks for the question.

The engine is behind the driver. The scoops on the side will direct air to the
radiator.

Do what trips your trigger. I've had the debate with others on in-line seating,
or side by side seating. In line better for aerodynamics, side by side better
for sharing the ride.
where is the engine ?
cooling air appears to enter at the nose of your craft, but, profile suggests
engine is behind pilot.
need to reduce nose vents and add scoops both sides behind driver.

will allow you to save or export as a .dxf file.
Even though they may have a different file types for the 3d model in each
software, once you flatten it to a line drawing they will allow you to save or
export as a .dxf

Being able to save in a DXF file is a good idea. Then start building the

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the info.
James mentioned that Alibre was only $99 now which is a decent price I believe.
Alibre
1. Seems to be an underdog in the CAD industry
a. Likely to make a deal for more exposure
2. Doesn't seem as refined as Rhino, Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
3. Seem to be as expensive as Rhino, AutoDesk Inventor are normally ($999)
4. Final renderings may not be as finished as its peer applications.
But at $99 there is a low barrier to entry for casual CAD users and it can share
files with Solidworks/Inventor/Rhino.
This is a tough decision.

Might I suggest that we limit ourselves to those programs which can be
saved to a ".dxf" file, since most of the more common programs can open
that?

Thanks for the link. I downloaded and installed it but it looks like you need to
know python to use it and the info says that its not really ready to use yet.
Its more difficult than I thought to find an open source CAD program.

All,
I am an industrial designer and have been using 3D CAD for decades. I write
reviews in industry magazines on the stuff. I thought I'd throw a few ideas out
there for good programs to use.
Rhino is a great 3D program. Yes, you can get into it for free but it has the
limitations Todd described. Alibre has a free program that stays free. They are
very good. SketchUp is great for concept work (but it's really aimed more at
architectural design). You can do a lot with it - and many do - but to get the

There are others that aren't free but are fairly low cost. TrueSpace by Caligari
is under $200 and it has some really interesting capabilities. Prices generally
go up from there. What program you'll want to get will depend on what you want
to do with your resulting models, your budget and how much time you have to
learn it.
If you only want pretty pictures go with the free or cheap artsy programs you
find on the internet. If you want to create engineering models go with one of
the examples above.
I hope that helps. If you have questions I am always open.

Hey Chad,
I love the idea (this is what I wanted to do)but I have never gone farther than
this group. If you want a good 3D/cad source you can go with Rhino, you can get
it for free and do 25 saves before you can not save any more. You can still
download and view anything but you can not make changes after the first 25
saves. Any file you put on the net can be down loaded and viewed with Rhino and
they can change a few things here and there. It is enough with the 25 saves for
most everyone and you can use it to viwe almost any other format.
You can also go with Sketchup but I have read in forums that it is limited with
its renders as well as contours.
Let me know what I can do to help, would be gald to.

Hi chad, Welcome aboard. Go to www.rqriley.com to see lots of cars and other things you can build yourself. The highest plans i've seen are 95.00 But he also has the computer program you are lookin for, sorry, but i do not know how much. Still, you will be impressed!!!! Hope this helps. This looks like a great project. I’m just cleaning out my
garage to build a three wheeler myself and the Lo-T3k looks like an
awesome project.
My very well taken care of ‘to work and back’ 1995
dodge neon that I’ve had for 10 years just blew its perfectly running, non
smoking engine via the timing belt breaking; just after spending a grand
repainting it jet black, adding euro lights all around, wheels, tires etc. A new
engine is going to cost $3,000 to replace.
So I took a look out on the market and found the Auto Unions
offering the following new car choices:
Look and feel stupid and unsafe for around $15,000;
Look and feel boring and average for $20,000, $35,000, or
spend more than that and basically stay at home for the next
7 years until I pay it off.
On top of that everything is either massively heavy piles of
metal or flimsy tinfoil, inefficient and more than what I need to get myself
work and back with.
So I decided that I’m putting together a new open source
website so people can work together online to design electric vehicles and post
plans and provide free support to each other. http://revoltevp.org
I’m trying to work out the process and find good web based
tools I can add to the site by going through the first project which I’ve
decided is going to be a tilting three wheeler 2F3T.
I’m working on trying to figure out which CAD/CAM software
format we should standardize on so the most people could participate.
I’ve been looking for some open source/free software but haven’t found
anything that’s very easy to use.
After much deliberation I think I will do a "donate" link. I have not wanted to
and I have avoided it for a few years now but…I put up a "donate" link in the
"links" area. I did not want to put it on the main page and have it look like I
am begging for money, so if you want you will have to go to the link this way it
will not be an "in your face donate button" as soon as you get to the homepage.
If you have Paypal you can click it and it will take you to a Paypal secure
webpage.
I have not wanted to do this but I have had a few emails from people advising me
to go ahead with it. I don't want it to look like I am asking for or even
begging for money, if you don't want to …don't. It is no big deal. So far
everyone I have talked to about it said that there will be some that want to
help…let them, it will only advance the build and get you on the road faster.
Plus, part of their argument for the "donate" link is that I have been posting
all the info up with no charge so I should not feel guilty about it.
So…I did it.
If you want to donate then do it, I thank you and of course I will continue to
post everything I do. Don't feel compelled to do so this is only if you want.
I hope no one out there in cyber world thinks any less of me.
Thanks,
Seeya!
Todd
dang Tod... I've been looking for one too... if you wernt so far away I'd buy it in a heart beat... nijas are going for 2k right now... so get your money's worth out of it!!!

Hey all,
I don't want to do it but it is time…If I want to get Lo-T3k on the road then I am going to have to get rid of a few more things.
So that being said, anyone want a Ninja 250. If I remember right it is a 2000 or 2001. I have had the carbs rebuilt, fluids chainged, new battery last year and new tires a month ago. The bike has about 900 mile on it - FOR REAL - and the tires have about 100 yards worth of travel…yes that is correct. I have not had a chance to do any thing with it and I want Lo-T3k on the road before Carlisle next year. I have also added green LEDs to the front, sides and
rear, relocated the signals under the tail and added 2 more running lights and brake lights to the rear (in a factory location). I hand cut and added blue reflective tape for better visibility both day and night. There are picks of it under the photo section. There is some damage on the clutch side and a rip in the seat, I have epoxied the damage and it does not look bad at all. I thought I would go here before I hit Ebay. The first $1000 here can have it, I will ask more on Ebay due to fees and the fact that I can get more from it. It needs to be ridden and with the wife working nights/weekends, 3 kids and church 2-3 days a week…I don't have time to ride. It needs a good home. Someone let me know if you are interested and we can work out the details. I can post more pics if needed. If it helps to talk anyone into it (hehe)…the money will be going towards building a small work shop, so I can get Lo-T3k on the road.
I am tired of it
sitting in the back yard and me not able to work on it.
Some one give it a good home.

Thank you Sir.
I have had others tell me that they appreciate what I am trying to do and that I have been putting everything up with no charges. I will continue to do so. As soon as I get the front and rear worked out I will put all info for those as well. Hopefully build more and put it all up for free. I just don't think this should be so hard or cost anything. The technology is out
there, we just need to gather it and sort it for what works for us. I am trying to do that but life gets in the way. I have had a few others tell me to post up a Paypal account for donations but I don't like taking money for nothing. When I get a website up and running I might think about that to keep the site up and running but that is some time away.
However…I might be talked into a "donations" button of some sort.
I just don't want people to think I am in this for the "give me the money" frame of mind.
I did have a thought, Cafepress has a web site that sells t-shirts and stuff. I would only make a few dollars off of each t-shirt sold but it would be some income. Would anyone be interested in a "Lo-T3k" t-shirt, hat, or something similar; possibly a couple of design options? If there is some interest I will work on some designs and see if I can get a Cafepress store opened up. Or, if someone wanted a design
made up, I could work on that as well.
Any thoughts? Let me know.

email one to you. I has been sitting now without beiong started for about 2
months so I will need to get it charged up. I dont want to sell it but I need

well as 2 sets of carbs. It ran 2 years ago before it was pulled. It has been
sitting ever since.
Let me know if you need any more pics. I took some of the damage area, the
ripped seat and other shots. I have a video of the leds on it lite up in the
