Re: [LLSE] Re: Tires

I have not used the R888's, but have had R1R's since they came out. They are just about as good in dry as the 048's, but don't have quite the initial turn-in bite. The compound needs to get warmed up to work best, and they seem to grip better as they get hotter. Tread wear is incredible for a tire this sticky though, and they work well in the wet. I always heat-cycled out my 048's before the tread wore out, but these seem to take almost endless cycling. Best thing is they are cheap, comparatively speaking, to the 048's. Not sure about price vs. the R888.

These tires swept the Solo II Nationals, so that should tell you something as well.

Thanks, I will check him out.

I am stuck between what tires to get... R888s or the R1Rs. Any opinions? Kind of looking for something with decent tread wear, but not lose the handling of the 048s. I am open to other tires as well, not just the 2 listed.

Thanks,
Dan

I like Kumho ECSTA ASX touring tires. Here they are at Tire Rack. They have a high tread wear rating. They work good in the rain. They obviously will not stick...
