Hi Spacely!
Do what you feel comfortable doing. Don't let the "boys" talk you into a
huge lift if you don't want one, or all the gadgets too.
I just finished 1.75" lift and bigger tires and now I don't scrape on every
little pebble sticking out of the ground. But people I have been wheeling
with are saying "Oh now you need to add a 2" body lift and move up to 35"
tires!"
My response - "If I wanted a monster Jeep I would have done that."

I'm still deciding on what I want to do, which is good because I need to get

Last one on this....when did you graduate from Capital. My cousin graduated
from there in '97 and my younger cousins will start there this fall.
oooooo well lets go back in history or shall I say "ancient" history.
1980.
When I was back over the hoilday, I noticed a huge jump in the minority
population. It was really weird to see brown faces walking on the streets of
"downtown" Boise. And not football players...just regular folks.
well its about time!
To make this Jeep related...have you ever wheeled in Boise area? Found some
great spots when I was up there that I will definitely be hitting next time
I go back
wheeled? Technically no, not unless you call driving my Honda civic over
the side walks of BSU wheeling.
We went up to Silver City last year, close but no cigar.

Well the first side took us some time because we were taking it slow to make
sure it was all lined up and everything, the other side was about 30
minutes.
Total install time is about 1.5 hours and it is a 2 person job simply
because you need someone to help you hold the bars up to mark where to drill
the holes. Actually, I guess jack stands would work for that.
I believe all the side bar installs are the same. The boulder bars went on
the same basic way my Smittybilts did. took 2 people and 1.5 hours to do.
I have a write up of my install on my site if you want to give it a quick

Interesting...I think the climate for homosexual tolerance up there has
changed for the better. Either that or I am blind...could be.
Was there last summer for the first time in 16 years geographically diff,
but the people still felt the same.
Anyway, most of my friends in Boise are gay/bi/lesbian and they all seem to
enjoy living there. And as you probably know there are no good clubs in
Boise except the E-Club, so that was my hang out. Gay or straight, that was
the place to dance.
ah never did the club scene there (even though I played in bands)
Not sure, had a near brawl in Nampa over a refusal to serve "my kind" at
McDonalds, but the manager did right and fired the woman on the spot and me
and my cousins entire basketball team got to eat free that day.
that's pretty cool.
She actually said that? Jesus on a cracker, what century does she think
this is?
Here's my take on things - I never saw a black person (there) until I was
in hs. I graduated from Capital, graduating class of like 450. Nothing but
white faces, I mean white, no minorities of any kind. I digress...when I
was in hs a black family moved into the neighborhood and went to Capital.
I had no idea how they felt until I went to Washington D.C. about a year
latter and walked into a Mickey D's in the heart of downtown. WOW! Talk
about culture shock.
I thought Boise tolerated Blacks because they were great for BSU's (how the
hell would you like to have that on your transcripts?) football team. All,
if you'll excuse the term, imported, from out of state. All very nice guys
btw.
And house prices there have skyrockted with the influx on Californians (much
like Denver).
Ah but not as bad as here (Portland - ave. price for a 3 bedrm is $164,000)
and watch what you say about those Californians, I moved here from Santa
Barbara (long story)
Ok, rambling again...I will stop.

Great little city, more of a college
town than they want to admit, and easy access to outdoors from anyplace in

I always felt that it was a closed minded, phobic (you name it) little LA

Lets not even talk about Nampa!
Here's the joke that was hot when I was in hs -
couple on a date, necking in the back of the car, girl says, "kiss me where
I speak." guy does Then she says, "kiss me where my heart beats." guy does.
Then she says, "kiss me where it stinks." Guy drives her to Nampa.
I was up there over Memorial day visiting my relatives and did a little
wheeling on a family friends private property...AWESOME!!!! Got bite by a
dog, but the rest of the trip was really cool. And hey, it's only like 8-10
hours from Denver.
Is that good or bad?

wheeling on a family friends private property...AWESOME!!!! Got bite by a

Nope...I have Smittybilt Side Steps. My kids needed a step more than I need
spuerior rocker protection.
I am goin to get Boulder Bars ometime this year as I helped a buddy install
them on his XJ and they stick out far enough to be a step for my kiddies.

Do you have them?

HAHAHA!!!! I love Boise (kinda hard for most to understand why an inner city
black chick digs Boise...go figure).
(Well I'm a Lesbian and couldn't get out of there fast enough!)
Great little city, more of a college
town than they want to admit, and easy access to outdoors from anyplace in
the city.
I always felt that it was a closed minded, phobic (you name it) little LA
want-a-be-but-not-to-anyone's-face tiny little town with visions of
grandeur.
And a great group of people (now you go up to Nampa and that is a
different story...)

Guess I'll be next... My name is Heather Anthony, AKA Mudchik. (That
was the easy part, now where to start?!)
My first Jeep was a 1985 CJ7 Renegade, completely stock other than
235 BFG A/Ts. It was black, my baby to say in the least. I used to
drive it to work with the top off in the summer (at that time, I only
had a hard top, which was off for the summer) and would fix my hair
in the parking lot with my cordless curling iron upon arrival. I
never had it off road, didn't know what it could do, or what I could
do behind the wheel. Didn't find that out until I sold it to obtain
my 1998 TJ.
The TJ- I bought it in October of 1997, and joined 2 jeep clubs in my
area in December, going out off roading for the first time. Until
May of 1998, I did everything as a stock vehicle, with the exception
of some (really bad) 30" M/Ts. In May, I had added a 3" lift,
33x9.50 BFG M/Ts, and a front locker. And away I went. Didn't do
the gear change to 4:11 until November of 98, at which point I was
happy with my set up.
But, a woman is free to change her mind, and so I did too.. I just
traded my 98 TJ on a 2000 TJ- Had to get the Dana 44 rear while I
still could. While I will do things differently this time, I still
put 33x9.50 BFGs for now, upgraded my lift from a Black Diamond to a
Teraflex 3", I plan to put an ARB in the front and swap gears again
in the future.
Enough about my rig.. I'm a member of two jeep clubs in PA, Jeeps R
Us based in Harrisburg, and more actively in Blue Mountain Jeep
Alliance, in Hamburg. Our clubs have staffed the Jeep Jamboree USA
events in the Poconos for a number of years, in which I personally
have been on staff for 6 of them. Being on the BMJA Board of
Directors (in which, yes, is a primarily male club)I have been able
to take an active role in organized 4 wheeling. I will say that our
club does promote female participation at all times.. those boys have
taught me everything I know!!!
The Jeep Girl Club is a fantastic idea- I wish that it had come along
a lot sooner. I'm looking forward to meeting other female jeep
enthusiasts who have a love for jeeping as I do.

Hi! I'm Jill Engel. I'm 29 and work as a highway design technician
for the Missouri Department of Transportation. Yes, I'm the one that
causes all those construction headaches on the highways! LOL
I just traded my 98 TJ SE in for a new Y2K TJ Sport a month ago. It
hasn't been offroad yet like the other one. I'm still babying it. I
know eventually I have to let the baby grow up and go out. Anyway, I
got my love for jeeps from a guy I dated for 5 years who had a 79
CJ5. After we broke up I decided it was time to get my own Jeep.
I'm still trying to get my current boyfriend hooked on Jeeps. He's a
great guy but he still just doesn't understand.
I just want to thank Landy for starting the whole Jeep Girl Club.
It's a great idea!!!
I guess I'll introduce myself since I started this whole crazy
thing...
Hi my name is April. I have been a Jeep owner for 4 years now. Jeep
lover all of my life. Bought my Jeep in 96 was a member of a 99.9%
male Jeep club in 98 and started this female club in 99. One of the
reasons why I started Jeep Girl Central is because I was tired of not
being heard in my Jeep Club. I thought if I started this, I may not
be heard still. But at least I'll be around women who just might
understand where I am coming from. And I was wanted to build us up as
women, in the 4 wheeling world, to make us known. Oh and most
importantly... to have fun doing all of this.
My Jeep, Landstrider, is a 93 YJ. I have started from ground zero
and built her up today. I have had major roles in making her what she
is. But I always needed a hand, I lack the strength mostly.
anyways, after several make overs...
Landstrider now has: 7.75" lift which includes 33" tires, 2.5"
suspension lift, 2" body lift, 1.75" shackels. Other turn on include,
I mean add on's, Hi-lift, tow hooks, grill inserts, driving lights,
buggy bumpers (nerf bars), hard top, etc and so on... this list is
too large for me to remember.
Landstrider won a Trophy at the 1999 Jeepthing Jeep Show for Most
Semi-Stock.
And that about all for me.... oh yeah one more thing... Thanks
everyone for you help support and participation in helping me acheive
this yet another Jeep dream. Now hand me a tissue LOL
Introductions....
Hi my name is Tiffany and I'm a Jeep-aholic (Hi Tiffany).
I am the owner, designer and crazy web site kid of
http://www.ilovejeeps.com. I started that site over 6 years ago and
decided in June of last year, when I finally got my 1999 Cherokee
Sport, that I should redesign the site to make it reflect what a Jeep
lovers site should be.
Anyway, that is why the site is what it is.
As for me, I am a 29-year-old web developer and freelance journalist.
I live moved back to my home state of Denver, CO about a year ago and
don't plan to ever leave again. Am a single mom with 2 Jr. Jeepers,
Brandon 7 and Zachary 5. Engaged to a great guy named Tony, who will
soon be buying his own TJ :-)
I have lived in Los Angeles, Boise and Detroit. I was born and raised
in Denver.
I have a 1999 Cherokee Sport which is now sporting a 6.5" lift and
31s. I did all the work on it myself, installed everything myself,
with the help of my dad and a friend when needed. I am going to be
installing a SYE this weekend, that should be interesting to say the
least.

Now that we can all communicate with one another why don't we tell a little
bit about ourselves for everyone?
If there are no objections I'll start....none? good.
My name is Janet - I recently joined the jeepgrilsclub last week. In Jan of
'99 my wife and I bought a Jeep Cherokee Sport. In June of last year Jeep
101 came to town and we decided since it was free what the hey! We were
hooked on off roading and within the week signed up for our first Jeep Jam.
A month latter we traded the P/U in on a Wrangler and then couldn't decide
which vehicle to take to the JJam! It has been an exciting year of wheelin,
I have just finished the following mods to the Warrior Princess (TJ)
Hi lift jack
Front tow hooks
Olympic 550 Rock-receiver hitch rear bumper
Cobra 40 channel CB
Teraflex steering box skid plate
5 aluminum 8x15" rims
BFG 31x10.5 mudders
Tomken gas tank skid plate
Pro Com RS 9000 adjustable shocks
1.75" spring spacer lift
K&N air filter
Quick release
special license plate
Things left to do:
side bars
Locking hood release
Bug screen
Bikini top
Windjammer
I really am glad to be part of a group of lady Jeepers!
