... grease in the speedo needle might be the issue? ... I did not think that. I checked that way back. This was brought up by someone else as a thing to check.

Have you fully checked the intake airflow path? Maybe there's a rag in the intake or in the filter canister from when the car was being painted? Maybe the hose
