Hi folks,
I have a 1982 Hondamatic CM450A, a fairly simple sort of bike, which is good
because I am new to motorcycles. I have been reading up on the bike and reading
posts here and I have a couple of questions.
First, from what I understand, this bike doesn't actually have a reserve tank,
the petcock in the reserve setting simply draws from the bottom of the tank
rather than the top. If this is accurate why not just leave the petcock in the
reserve position?
Second, the specs list the tank as being 3.5 gal with .5 gal reserve, if this as
well as the above is accurate it would mean that the petcock stops drawing from
the top after the first 3.5 gallons...this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
What's the point in having a reserve setting? Maybe to let you know when you
are running low on fuel so that you don't end up stranded?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
