Welcome fans of the Hodaka motorcycle that started the off-road craze of the late 60's and 70's. If you loved the simple pleasures of off-road riding, the simplicity of these early machines, the ring-ding-ding sound of 2-stroke thunder then this is your place. If you know what an Ace100, Dirt Squirt, Super Rat, Wombat, Combat Wombat, Super Combat, Road Toad, or Thunderdog is then you're like family.
Pictured: the "Falcioni" 1973 Wombat 125 custom Trials Hodaka recently acquired by Stu Osborn. The bike sports a plastic after-market fuel tank, custom TY 175 pipe with Briggs Stratton spark arrestor, low mount speedometer and custom trials seat professionally upholstered using the original Hodaka seat pan. Built by Mike Falcioni of Terrebonne, Oregon and purchased from Earl Burrows who sold it to Stu for what he paid for it on eBay, it was transported from Oregon to Washington for free by Mike Lake and Fritz Gunther.
Forks are Suzuki TM 125. Shocks are Honda TLR200. Reed Cage setup with ported piston. Carb is Mikuni VM 26 or 28 and uses the OEM Hodaka manifold and air filter. Custom 3 lb flywheel weight. Fenders are aluminum in front, plastic adhering paint-matched Preston Petty 'Mudder" in back. Beautiful and effective custom skidplate. The custom footpeg location has since been lowered almost 3 inches, improving rider balance and center of gravity of the bike while still achieving more than 11" of ground clearance.
