Well this was a beautiful holiday weekend, so I loaded up my observer(wifey) and
camera and hit the road.
Route 66 that is.
That`s right, I found it, and the Race Track really is on the route, it`s just
shown as rt 53 now.
Anyway, I traveled 150mi. or so down Old 66, which would be called a frontage
road by most people.
It was a bumpy road to say the least... We stopped at a few tourist attractions
and went to the museum.
The people who live along the route are very friendly and filled with hope of a
rejuvenation of their mostly deserted towns.
The main highway(55) runs parallel and although you can exit close to the little
towns, most just zoom by.
It was a fun day, and next time I`ll go farther south.
