Hey guys! My name is Leah and I have owned a few mustangs in the past, but now I am getting a brand new 2003 GT. I have two questions...First, I am going to get a customized license plate and I really cant come up with anything clever to put on there...let me tell you a little about it...it will be blak with blakc leather, 2003, gt, hard top with sunroof, I am a female(lol). Anyway, my second question is that I have no idea even where to start on performance mods cuz with my other ones they were already modded and I didnt go any further with it...this time I wanna be very hands on..I live for this...I have helped with some of my friends cars, but never my own. Anyway, if there is anything you guys can suggest, that would be great :)

If I were you I would spring for an aftermarket
system.I've got a 94 gt and it had the mach 460 in
it.I had a factory amp go bad and dealer price was
about $500 to replace. For the same amount of cash I
bought an aftermarket amp and over time I've upgraded
the factory pieces w/ some good aftermarket
components. To me it sounds a lot better than "Fords
Best".Also upgrading to all the factory stuff costs a
ton!!

Hey, Kimberly- What you are doing is the right start.!st the heater
core is not going to be where u thought it was. The core is
actually on top of the evaporator case. Remove the dash as u r doing
and pull it back as far as u can.(a/c is usually disconnected prior
but I have been able to leave it connected"costs to recharge a/c")
disconect the wiring to the blower resister and the blk hose. Up
front in the engine compartment are 2 or 3 nuts to remove(they
attach to the evaporator case on the firewall) Back iside there are
1 or 2 screws that attach to the case support bracker up on top and
on the left & bottom for the dash attachment. The evap case should
now be accessable. Tight if u didn't pull the a/c lines. On top of
the case is the lid to the core, not in front as a non-a/c car.
it's held in by 5 screwss if I remember correct. Hope this helps. JJ

If your car was factory equipped with A/C, you will have to completely remove
the dash to get the heater/air conditioning "box" out from the firewall.
The glovebox-only method is for non-A/C Mustangs.
Good luck,

Hi Pony lovers,
I have an 87 Mustang GT 5.0 L and I am having a difficult time removing the
heater assembly.
I have a Chiltons and a Hayes manual for my year and the instructions given
by both manuals don't resemble my assembly. One manual stated that I only
had to remove the glove box, 5 or so screws from the cores' cover and pull
thru the glove box space. No way this is going to work. The core is
somewhere to the left of the glove box, kinda in line with the hatchback and
fuel buttons.I haven't actually seen the core as of yet.
I have the dash and the instrument panel just bout off. I still can't see
how the heck the core/heater assembly comes off.
It's been almost 48 hrs.of trying to do this job and I am greatly
discourage not to mention tired...
Please anyone out there that can offer some help I'd appreciate it much.
Thank you.
Kimberly

You can get any of those from Ford, of course, by going to a dealership, but I
would look at www.stangparts.com and see if there's anything there. Usually they
have some stuff, but you have to ask... You can also look around at junkyards in
your area that happen to carry late model Stangs.

speaking of adding a new stereo. my '01 gt has the stock stereo installed. my old 2000 V6 had the mach460. it was a very good system. I was wondering if anybody knows where I could get the mach460 system or the mach1000 system for my GT. it would help out a lot
Subject: Re: [FordMustangFunStuff] hi cd palyer add on?
You would probably be better off to buy an aftermarket cd changer and run it thru your antenna. I have messed with the Ford cd player and they aren't the best quality. By the time you buy the Ford player and the wiring harness and get it installed you can buy a good quality aftermarket player that will sound better, last longer and, hold more songs. Probably looking at $200.
Sincerely, Jim
