Visit http://www.electricdragin.com for further information.

Electric-drive enthusiasts turn to racing to raise awareness about
transportation choices and the environment.

San Diego County, CA - The EV community is kicking gas cars off the
track by hosting an electric-drive racing event on Saturday, January
26 and Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Electric-drive vehicles consist of electric, hybrid, and fuel cell
vehicles. These vehicles produce less pollution with greater
fuel-efficiency while advancing the future of the transportation
industry. Electric Dragin' is open to the public and all vehicles that
have electric-drives.

This event will have vendors, electric-drive owners, and competitors
showing off the future of transportation by reducing pollution without
losing the power and excitement of racing.

If you would like to race or have a match between you and your
neighbor's hybrid, you can register online at www.electricdragin.com
to bring your electric-drive vehicle (including the all hybrids) to
see who is king of the track.

Bill Hammon, President of Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego
says, "I am tired of the same old rhetoric of electric cars coming in
a few more years. The technology is here today and you can see
electric-drive on the track. There is no reason we can't drive cleaner
today."

Joseph Gottlieb of Electra-City Motors, a ZAP (ZAAP.OB) electric car
dealer, says "Technology has always stemmed from racing and now that
the tides are turning away from gas, we can show people exactly what
exists today to take its place. We have new technology batteries,
electric motors, controllers, and drive systems that can change our
dependency on foreign oil, this event will showcase exactly what comes
from those who refuse to think inside the box."

There will be an e-motocross that everyone is invited to participate
in. This is a family event that you can bring the kids to and not
worry about them going deaf. The cars are clean and quiet so you can
leave your ear plugs at home. Keith Vansickle, another EV enthusiast
says "Just because it is drag racing doesn't mean it has to be
deafening. You will be able to breathe easy during this event without
all the smog (just a little rubber tire burning). This is going to be
the most exciting event to combine racing and reducing our dependency
on foreign oil"

Proceeds collected by Electric Dragin' go to The San Diego
Environmental Foundation which educates the next generation about
reducing environmental degradation. The Foundation's outreach and
education program is the San Diego EcoCenter for Alternative Fuel
Education. Through interactive, science-based exhibits, the EcoCenter
has educated over 10,000 children in the San Diego area about
alternative fuel, renewable energy, and energy independence. The San
Diego Environmental Foundation (SDEF) was incorporated as a 501 C 3,
non-profit California Corporation in 1998.

My name is Darrell, I live in California, where transportation
energy, and emmision is a factor. (Los Angeles rated the dirtiest
city in America)

In becoming more environmentally conscious, I'm trying to grow in
knowledge as an ecopreneur, In the clean energy industry. I've
always been interested & fascinated by hybrid vehicles, even before
they become fashionable.

I'm becoming interested in alternative energy or electrical cars
because they don't require any fuels & you can plug them in to the
electrical power grid. And it gives you the ability to have a 100%
emission free green energy source to run your car if your house is
powered by solar energy.

I'm looking to network with alternative energy or electrical car
owners or producers,
I work for myself in the transportation industry~where energy cost is
a factor.
So I want to learn more about energy savings & performance from an
alternative~ renewable energy car compared to a traditional gas
engine
car.

Xcel Energy Study: with a Smart Grid, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Could Have System Benefits

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Xcel Energy today announced the results of a
six-month study related to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)
and how an increase in their popularity may affect Colorado. The study
found that PHEVs may result in a reduction of the overall expense of
owning a vehicle and, with the help of smart-grid technologies,
eliminate harmful vehicle emissions by up to 50 percent.

The study looked at how adding PHEVs to the road could affect the
electric power grid depending on when and where the cars were
charging. It also looked at the overall emission footprint of these
vehicles, the decreased vehicle fuel costs and how PHEVs could impact
the company's production and capacity costs.

Xcel Energy's Utility Innovations group worked with the U.S.
Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) on
the study. A cutting-edge computer-modeling program was used to
measure the impact of a mass penetration of PHEVs and how much energy
would be required to charge them.

NREL's program was able to simulate adding vehicles to the roads in
large increments, under real driving conditions, simulating an
increase in the market penetration of these vehicles. The study
revealed that these cars, each equipped with a 9 kilowatt-hour
battery, could reduce overall CO2 vehicles emissions by half. They
could also save owners more than $450 in fuel costs each year compared
to a traditional combustion engine vehicle.

"Hybrid gas/electric vehicles are already on the market and PHEVs are
staged for growth, so we wanted to know how that could affect our
business," said Mike Carlson, CIO, Xcel Energy. "Depending on when
customers choose to recharge, adding PHEVs to the road may help reduce
overall emissions of CO2 without significant increases in utility
infrastructure. In other words, PHEVs could be one piece of the puzzle
to solving our global climate change problem."

How much would be saved in vehicle emissions depends on when drivers
charge their cars. Incentive programs may induce customers to charge
their PHEVs at certain times and will help Xcel Energy minimize
emissions and operating costs as well as incremental utility
infrastructure investment. "Successfully managing a charging program
will depend on a smart utility grid," said Ray Gogel, chief
administrative officer for Xcel Energy. "This study is one step we are
taking to demonstrate how to use energy more efficiently through
smart-grid technologies. In order to make a dent in issues like
climate change and dependence on foreign oil, the grid must change.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles have the potential to help us better
use renewable and other nontraditional energy sources while creating a
grid that is more interconnected, balanced and reliable."

Plans are in place to work towards a more intelligent utility grid.
While the specific impact has yet to be studied, technology already
exists to allow customers to feed excess power from their own PHEV,
back onto the grid. This can potentially lead to better use of
renewable energy sources and improved reliability. Future studies will
include PHEV field tests and evaluate the ability to manage the
charging process in conjunction with the availability of renewable
energy sources.

Global Warming Public Nuisance Complaint
Experts

Attorney General Bill Lockyer today filed a lawsuit against leading U.S. and Japanese auto manufacturers, alleging their vehicles’ emissions have contributed significantly to global warming, harmed the resources, infrastructure and environmental health of California, and cost the state millions of dollars to address current and future effects.

“Global warming is causing significant harm to California’s environment, economy, agriculture and public health. The impacts are already costing millions of dollars and the price tag is increasing,” said Lockyer. “Vehicle emissions are the single most rapidly growing source of the carbon emissions contributing to global warming, yet the federal government and automakers have refused to act. It is time to hold these companies responsible for their contribution to this crisis.”

Filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the complaint names as defendants: Chrysler Motors Corporation, General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Toyota Motor North America, Inc., Honda North America, and Nissan North America. The lawsuit is the first of its kind to seek to hold manufacturers liable for the damages caused by greenhouse gases that their products emit.
