The Tmax and I found our way up the Big Thompson Canyon. A salted nut roll and a Coke in Estes. Back down Devil's Gulch Road.
A little ice/snow on the Devil's Gulch Road, lots of gravel.
I noticed a little less grip with the tires today and the cooler temps.
I signed up for the Erico turkey run and have been watching the weather. I noticed that Saturday's weather sort a deterated some so I'll wing it I guess. I have to read on sportque's.

This is just an FYI. I have not heard much chatter, but I will go ahead and post.
A couple of Denver scooter events.
Erico Motorsports
Scoot for Turkeys 2009; Nov 14, this coming Saturday.
I think tomorrow I'll do the Peak to Peak highway from Lyons down to Black Hawk.
I'll be on my white Burgman 650 with a bright yellow Roadcrafter suit along with
2 other riders on motorcycles following an appropriate distance behind.
Sounds like a lot are gtting out to enjoying the great Colorado weather.

Yesterday Sue and I took a ride to Rosie Diner in Monument and back. It was a great ride, lots of fun, good company.
Today I headed out on my own. I went over to Morrison and headed up towards Golden. I stopped to take some pictures and saw another Burgman. I jumped on my scooter and caught up with the Burgman and Vespa.. We pulled over in Golden and talked and I invited them to join this group. She was riding a new 650, he was riding the Vespa. Expect to see them joining our great group soon.
We parted ways and I headed up towards Blackhawk and then came back down the same way and headed home. Rode 120 miles today, was a GREAT ride. Lots of people out riding today. Ya gotta LOVE Colorado weather..

After brunch with my dauther and son I left them to them selves to take to the
road on the scooter. The Aurora scooter group was to be at the Museum & I was
going to try to meet up with them as there comming out but I get the to west
side of down town, Spear and Colfax with the cops having several street going
east blocked off. After I jogged around I get to the Museum knowing everyone
would have left. So I went east on colfax to Pieora came wast some ended up on
US 6-85 then on I-70 got off at 88th then west on that to Wads then home. Good
ride, the best part was as I'm going west on 1st with Steel that blends into
Spear there I'm right the middle of the curve waiting for the red light to
change, then when the trafic starts up out of the corner of my eye on the left I
see beige, looking down because buy then I'm right beside this car about in the
middle. I bet I had a whapping 4 inch between that car and the base of the
scooter. Pushed right a tad and must have reliesed the gas some. When I look
down I caught a glimps of what was behind me in the mirror, he was giving the
action room. I laied on my air hone a good while also. She tried to get away but
I caught up her about 6 blocks down. As luck would have it the light turned red
with her behind a car in the out side lane I'm in the center at the line but I
stopped right at her window waited for her to look my way then mention she ran
me off the road, calmly. Also said that wasn't right for her to do that plus
gave that little tisk tisk noise moving my for finger back and fourth. Then said
perferal vision. Light turned green. It was funny the way she'd cut her eyes my
way but at the same time tring to avoid me.
Yep I was out 2 days this week, first ride was about 30 mile then yesterday was 60. Went to Golden east on 104th ended up on Colorado to Hampton to Wads then home. I was going to go to Boulder but got side tracked to Flat Irons for a short pit. I'm not officially retired.

Sorry Steve! Ouch!! It takes us old guys longer to heal up, but I am sure you
will be up and riding soon.
I still like my MP3 a lot, lots of stability over 2 wheels, but you can still
certainly lay it down, but I think it takes more effort to do so. You can PM me
if you want more info.
There are lots of other positives--easy to move it around when you are not
riding it( with a sore foot for a while that might be a big improvement over
anything else you could buy)..I swear Lisa's 250 Vespa is harder to move around
than my 500.
Then there are blowouts, you will just keep riding if a front blows, and pull
over no problem if the rear goes. Never had a blowout, but nice to know it is
less of a big deal with three wheels. Lots of other things, but no time
now....get well!

Yikes! Sorry to hear about your misshap! Getting banged around can certainly put a crimp in your plans. Sometimes life gets in the way of living.
I've never been anything but pleased with my Silver Wing, but I wonder whether anti-lock brakes would have made a difference in my accident. It will be a must in any new bike I might buy. I've been toying with moving to a Burgman 650 for that little bit of extra power (not that I need it) and because I like that you can manually down shift the transmission. Just for grins I got a quote for an '09 Burgman Executive (anti-lock brakes and adjustible windscreen) at OTD Denver. About $9200, tax and fees included. Certainly not cheap, makes me like like my Silver Wing. more and more.

There is one solution then.... you have to find triked scooter for another 12 weeks :))))) and go for it :))))) A while ago I remember I had broken ankle and was riding horses with my cast on... so unless your cast is above your knee..... trike might be solution :)))

Actually, I do lose a LOT of riding time. I was supposed to depart Denver for Central FL on Nov 1st. I had a job in Lake Wales until Jan 1, then 2 months in Bradenton with 4 days at Disney and a week long cruise in the Caribean. I may be able to make the cruise, but I probably won't be driving the 5th wheel down to FL for the winter.
But yeah, I consider myself lucky. I didn't exactly "walk away" from the landing, but it could have been a LOT worse.
As for my Progressive policy, it's just their motercycle coverage. Other vehicles are covered by other companies.

Oh geez sorry to hear that. Good thing you are alive and in the end it is not something terribly bad. You know you can replace everything except yourself.... If you would like to share what coverage you have in Progressive I might want to go with them... :))) We recently change with cars but if Progressive is easy to work with and covers gear hey I might sign my scooter too :)))))
I love my 400 but from another side 650 a bit more power.... well but then that power cost more too so maybe 400... upss I might not be much of help hihihi
Take care, take your time recovering.... winter suppose to suck anyway so you probably even not loose much of riding time.

Sorry to hear about your accident Steve. Sure glad it was not worse. The scooter can be replaced.
I like my Burgman 400 a lot, but I am also considering moving up to a Burgman 650. I think it would be a lot better for my long distance trips. I seem to be doing a lot of them and I am already planning a trip to Wisconsin and Minn next summer.
If I changed scooters, I would need to get a trailer hitch installed on a newer scooter by spring, so I think it will have to wait.

We could meet here (Heather Gardens, Aurora) and take Parker (CO 83) down, or in

Good reply about the "get a real bike." I guess one has to have that Harley to fit in. I got some guys at work that give me the same talk, saying I'm ready for a real bike. I always tell them I can keep up with you and my gas lasts longer too.
I just bet that rascal did a double take on the hitch, funny.
Glad to hear Jay had a swell time this summer, I seemed to have missed most of it as usual again. The good news is I have 18 working days left then it adios, good buy. Last day is Oct 30, I can't hardly wait. Next summer it'll be "Hello scooter weather."

Hello to everybody. Just finished a great trip up through the center of Nebraska, two Indian Reservations, and the Rushmore and Crazy Horse area on the Burgman. The weather and Fall colors were excellent and very few tourists! I recommend the Fall, late September, for a run to the Dakotas. I met a number of motorcycle groups and only one maxiscooter rider that was headed west across the country to Portland. We can sure call ourselves a minority group?? They were all good people and were amazes at the size and speed of the Burgman scooters. I met some Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservation bikers at a couple casinos and they were a good bunch and liked the maxiscooters also. They didnt razz me too much anyway! Heh! No more dodging Summer tourists and hot scootering for me I am going to stick to Spring & Fall for my trips. Jay Oldhummer

I don’t know if you use them but I
would start first with good earplugs. My current windshield is too short and
although I still feel wind I don’t hear it that much with ear plugs on.
You still will be able to hear traffic etc but it will take much of that wind
noise.
Larger windshield will take the wind noise
out but if you will move to bigger windshield I would consider vented one. In
the fall/winter riding it will keep you warmer but during the summer you want
to have a vent … my short windshield does not have a vent and on really
hot days it’s toasty behind it .
I hop that info helps J)) Also right here in Pine,
CO Clearview windshields have it’s factory so you can always stop
there during the week or just call them.
I know they made a custom windshield for
Jay the Oldhammer , they even took his height etc so it fits perfect.

Yamaha Majesty 400 windshield
I own a Majesty 400 for one month. I'm 6'3" tall,
and I wonder if a higer windshield would reduce the noice of the wind because
this is very annoying when riding above 60mph.
Any suggestion is welcome. Regards
