I know that the 65 comets only had a choice of a 289 (possibly a 302) for high output...and I also know that some select 66 comets had the choice of a 390....

A 390 would not fit into any 65's, body configuration was to narrow to accomodate anything larger than a 289. 66's were designed for the FE series engines. 66 ...
