If you are at 40 dwell now and nothing is misconnected or grounded I'd suspect a
bad condenser. Swap the old condenser back in and try it. I'm assuming you did
not loosen the distributor hold down during your tune up which would drastically
alter the timing.

This was suppose to be pretty simple-change the points, condenser and rotor and
now car will not start. Did a dwell test prior to changing everything and it
came up 46 (40 is norm)
Needless to say car started fine before change. Any ideas or tests I could run.
Did not chnage anything else.
