Description

Everyone but GM wants a plug-in car like the VOLT.

If you want one too, tough! GM will either sabotage or cancel it!

If GM kills the Volt, laugh at them for lying!

There are hundreds of RAV4-EV still on the road, still running fine, more owned by the public than there are fuel cell cars.

Most commutes are short, and the user can size the battery pack for their commute. For occasional longer trips, an add-on Gas genset runs the car directly, if the battery is depleted.

The much simpler serial plug-in hybrid gets rid of the Toyota bass-ackward Prius or GM hybrid transmission. The only connection between the genset and the drivetrain is by wire, all traction power comes from the electric motor-controller, much simpler than the over-complicated Prius.

GM has already admitted that the VOLT will be produced in tiny numbers, if at all, and that it won't help them meet their MPG ("cafe") requirements. That means, FORGET ABOUT 100K PER YEAR, IT'S MORE LIKE 100, IF ANY AT ALL!

GM claims it needs a 400 lb. lithium battery, but the 1997 EV1 went over 110 miles on Panasonic Lead batteries, and the 1999 EV1 went over 160 miles on NiMH batteries. Both weighed about the same as the imaginary VOLT.

GM pretends ignorance of existing and proven EVs, still trying to hide the EV1! GM forbids refitting of the 40 gutted (all 1997) EV1 shells as battery EVs.

The VOLT would be a good design; but IMO GM has no intention of producing it. Sure, the Prius is handicapped by its bass-ackward inclusion of the engine into

In 1994, GM, clearly conflicted over being forced to build the EV1, purchased control of the NiMH batteries and proceeded to suppress them because of

The end is near, the VOLT my dear...
Low gas prices, big sales for gas guzzlers. "...The nightmare...is that consumers won't desire the fuel-efficient cars [automakers] plan to build..." ...
