Has anyone used or brewed biodiesel and or have an opinion on its
consumtion in our PSD engines? I have looked at www.localb100.com and
there is a seminar in NC during Jan. I have heard the pro's and con's
and wondered who has experimented with it.

Is there any way to hook a sending unit to a Juice/Attitude monitor to

Hey, my name is Bob and I live in Gilbert, SC. I recently returned from
Iraq to my family and my 2003 Ford F250 PSD. I want to thank Fordafied
for turning me onto this group. I will try to be as involved as
possible and look forward to group functions where I can put some faces
with the names, of course, my wife and kids aren't loosening their grip
too much anytime soon, so family functions will make my involvement
much easier (not excluding kicking back a few beers just 'cause the
family is there). Well, just wanted to intruduce myself. Look forward
to getting to know everyone.

Exceptionally explicit and clear instructions sir.  Thank you very much.  Don't worry we aviation mechs. have our share of torque wrenches, but you are absolutely correct in your asesment of the knock-off brands.

You don't have to worry about mixing up bolts. There
are like 6 or 8 bolts that are all the same size plus
two nuts that go over 2 studs. The torque spec is
80-100 in/lbs and DO use a torque wrench. While you
are in there, take the time and and make sure all the
other bolts in other valve body and solenoid pack are
tight by setting your torque wrench to 80 in/lbs and
checking them.

If you do not own a torque wrench, this is a perfect
excuse to buy one and do not get a cheap chinese made
one. Get a decent quality one that is made in USA.
Sears Craftsman Torque wrenchs probably have the best
value vs quality so that is a good place to get one.
Tourque wrenchs are one area that you don't want pot
metal knock offs. that you sometimes can get away with
with other tools.

Oh, and back to installing the valve body. After the
pan is dropped, the filter is pulled down, and before
you start unbolting the valve body...STOP... pick up
the new BTS valve body and look at it. Then look at
your valve body in the tranny. Unbolt the Valve body
that looks identical to it. There is a reason I have
said this. Over the last two years I have been on The
Diesel Stop, there have been numerous people who have
went to install a aftermarket VB and screw up and
remove the small center one. This is bad because,
there are loose ball check valves in this one and they
will fall out and dissappear and then if you find
them, you will be stressed out trying to figure where
they go back because you don't have a diagram. If you
look at the BTS before hand, there is NO mistaking
which valve body to remove. Also once the correct
valve body is removed, before you install the Transgo
flow re-direction plate, remove the screen that is
between the tranny and valve body. Sometimes that
little sucker will drop right out when removing the
valve body, sometimes you got to reach up with you
fingers and turn it 90 degrees and pull down. After
it is pulled out, place the Transgo flow re-direction
plate in place then re-install that screen in the same
hole on the Transgo plate. Ten stick new BTS valve
body up there and bolt in. Work the Torque wrench in
a stagerred [attern starting with the inner centermost
bolts and work outwards. Torque in samll increments
until you reach the spec. That about does it.

Although I have not installed mine yet, I believe it is very
straight forward. After reading on how to install a valve body I
think there are only 8 bolts that hold it in place. I have read that
they are different size bolts and you need to keep them organized so
you know which holes they go back in. You just drain the pan, drop
the pan and filter and there is the valve body. I will know more
hopefully next week from personal experience.

I am glad to hear that about the BTS valve body. My wife just let me
order one of my Christmas gifts. I ordered a BTS valve body and hope
to install it real soon. My wife stated it was for Christmas and I had
to wait to put it in. Well when you have a core charge as a ACE kicker
in the hole, that changed her whole outlook on when I can install it.
Can't wait to get it.

I am glad to see this is starting to take off. I look forward to some
type of meeting with everyone.

BTS valve body is the best thing you could do.
Followed by a TC from a 6.0 with pump mods. A
transmission temp guage can save your butt too.

I am curious what brings the bang for the buck for a tranny upgrade on my 2002 DRW F350 auto trans 7.3L .  I haul a 16,000lb 5th wheel and don't want to kill the stock tranny.  I have a 4"stainless turbo back exhaust, Juice/attitude, AirRaid intake.  I am not trying to race my dually and don't expect my controller to leave the 3 setting often if ever.  Would just like it to be the last truck I ever own and a strong economical hauler.  I have read countless articles about clutch slippage and dangerous trans temps, electronic tranny controllers, heat brazed torque converters, shift kits, deep trans pans, etc...  Where do you all think I will see the best return on my hard earned dollar or in what priority should I consider buying the upgrades?  I appreciate your feedback.

Hammer,

It is off topic, but something I've already been planning to do if
life ever slows down.

I'm not altogether about performance. It is somewhat though, with
the improved the turbo spool-up for when I tow stuff around and fuel
economy. I haven't tested without the TAGs since I got the Tipton
tuned PCM.

I'm fairly slow to change things as I keep track of economy over
~2500 miles before making any changes. Right now I'm testing B2
instead of B20 (which I've been running since May) and regardless of
fuel economy, I think I'm going back to the B20. My truck keeps
getting a whole lot louder and that's the only change I've made.
I'm at a little over 1K miles since the switch and economy doesn't
seem to have been affected so far. I am at 10K on the fuel filter
(all w/B20) so it may be time to change that . . .

See my dilemma here? I'd have to remove TAG I, run it for 2500 or
so; do the CCV mod (on the short list), run it for 2500; remove TAG
II, run it for 2500 . . . by then it's nearly April and I haven't
been able to make any other changes because you've got me all
tangled up checking out other stuff. And that's not even a good
start! I've still got to put on the freakin' downpipe that's been
riding around in my toolbox for 4 months!!!!!

Nope, that just won't work. It'll be an all or nothing switch with
the TAGS when I do the CCV and the DP.

Most of my other immediate plans should not affect economy or
performance, just reliability and durability.

plainredtruck
who knows he's just kidding himself with this "not affecting
performance" line

Raymond, this is orta going off topic...I noticed that
you have the TAG's in your signature. I played around
with them once. I had a discovery that the big Tag
offered all the benefits needed while reoving the
little Tag from the turbo which seemed to hurt
performance. I dare you to try it with the little one
removed. Another thing I discovered was that doing
the CCV mod, allowed removal of the big Tag and not
have lesser performance. It seems the big Tag does a
good job of fixing turbulent airflow as it goes
through the CCV tube, but once the tube is gone, the
TAG is no longer needed. Give it a try.

Hey guys,

Thanks to all of you who have introduced yourselves and posted
pictures in the Photos file.

It's good to see that we've got a few folks taking interest and we
all
look forward to increasing the interest.

My name's Raymond Bennett and I'm located in Hickory Tavern, SC. I
go
by plainredtruck on here and thedieselstop.com

'99 F250 7.3L SC SB - AIS w/AFI (auxillary fenderwell intake), TAG
II,
HX Mod, boost tube, dual pressure relief valve, 203* T-stat, billet
t-
stat housing, coolant filter, Aeroturbine, 4" exhaust halfway there,
Dieselsite A/C valve.

Tipton tuned w/ PMT 1 & 80hp "Econo" tune!!

Hammer & I have bandied about the idea of a "work day" for anyone
interested in rebuilding their LS rear ends.

If this succeeds, there are many other projects that I'm certain we
can pull together and benefit the larger PSD community by providing
input. Some of the guys around here have done BIG OIL, regulated
fuel
returns, etc., so there's quite a bit of experience floating around
on
which all of us can draw.

Oh yeah! We have the benefit of having the Tiptons ( DP-tuner.com )
in the Carolinas and part of the group as well.

For those of you who are interested in a work day, please let the
group know.

Response will determine date(s), location(s), project(s), etc.

Otherwise, it'll be me & Hammer and some Guinness.

Looking forward to intelligent PSD info/conversation. I will be moving
back to SC in a few months once I retire from the Army after 22 years.
Is there a good place to get performance parts/services in SC? Not a
big fan of mail order or online especially when there may be local
businesses to support.

I can't believe that nobody has posted yet, so let me be the first! I
just want to sayto Don and all of the SCPSD members, thank you for
opening up your group and letting us all in. My wife and I had a great
time at your get together, and am looking forward to some more.
Since this is the first post, how about everybody tell us where you
are from.
My name is Michael, and I am a Firefighter here in Wilmington, NC.
