For those of you who haven't seen the postings at any of the three
sites (TDG, PSN, or TDS) there will be a little get together in the
Greenville/Spartanburg area on Saturday, August 18th from around 3pm
until ?
Plans are for an informal photo shoot, hang out, maybe go grab a bite
to eat, and onefastgranny (from Fayetteville, NC) wants to go make a
little trouble with the local ricers & mustang boys.
Please let me know if anyone's interested.
Details only available via private e-mail.

I live in Goose Creek. Anyway, not a whole lot of us use the mailing list any more. We have our own club section over at
the www.thedieselgarage.com that most tend to post in now.

Bill with Automotive Specialists has announced a date for the 2nd
annual Diesels in Greenville event - October 6th in Mauldin.
Last year was a great time and Bill is planning on having David Dunbar
back with the dyno again.
More information to follow!

Hi guys,
I'm not normally a member here (I drive an IDI not a PSD) but found
you guys searching 'diesel south carolina'. I"m coming to the Upstate
to teach a class on making biodiesel next weekend. SOrry about the
short notice, I didn't know about this group.
Mark
*****************************
Biodiesel Homebrewing Class and Biodiesel Equipment Build Class
Central, SC (near Clemson)
November 18- biodiesel homebrewing chemistry basics
November 19- biodiesel equipment building
$60 per class, no one turned away for lack of funds
www.girlmark.com/tour
10-4 each day,
225 Broad street, Central SC 29630 - meeting hall of Scout Troop 278
Learn to make your own high-quality biodiesel fuel, and build the
equipment to do so at home
Maria 'Mark' Alovert from www.localb100.com and
www.biodieselcommunity.org is coming to upstate South Carolina to
teach two biodiesel classes- a one-day biodiesel homebrewing/chemistry
class on November 18, and a one-day equipment intensive on November
19th which allows you to build equipment to take home (optional). You
can attend one or both classes. Both classes are hands-on and will
cover a lot of theory on biodiesel chemistry, quality control,
materials compatibility, and equipment design. You can attend the
equipment class whether you're building equipment to take home, or
simply coming to watch and help the others.
In the homebrew class, we'll cover the basic process, the chemistry of
quality control and testing, discuss ethanol-based biodiesel (our
workshop host, Kurt Nolte, works with it regularly), and give you some
hands-on time to practice the techniques. If you stay for the second
day's equipment class, there'll be optional lab time on that day also
to continue your Saturday experiments if you wish. If you have already
experimented with making biodiesel, we'll cover a lot of
troubleshooting and problem-repairing techniques.
In the equipment class, we'll build processors, wash tanks, methanol
recovery condensors, and wash bubblers, and we will discuss heat
exchangers, methanol recovery, safety (from an equipment perspective),
materials compatibility, pumps, secondary containment, larger system
suggestions, and more safety.
The processors/reactors that we're building are a variation on the
open-source processor from
www.biodieselcommunity.org/appleseedprocessor and the wash tank is
similar to this one
http://www.biodieselcommunity.org/standpipewashtank/ . You can build a
system to take home if you purchase the parts and bring an electric
water heater to use as the reactor tank, and/or a 55-gallon
closed-head barrel to use as a wash tank..
To buy equipment parts for this class, email me at
classregistration@... by mid-day on Friday the 17th and tell
me that you want parts (you'll also need to bring the tanks yourself),
and we'll work out the payment (either Paypal or "settling up at the
door" depending on how many people I have to pick up parts for)-
they're about $250 for processor parts and $45 for wash tank parts,
and you also need to acquire an electric water heater (and also a
barrel if you're building a wash tank in the class). Methanol recovery
condensor parts are $45 for a 4' long copper tube-in-shell heat
exchanger that we'll solder up in the class.
For more info, email me at classregistration@..., or see
www.girlmark.com/tour. You can also just show up on the day of the
class and register 'at the door'.

Thanks, Shane Ard
Hey all, new fella here from Georgetown Sc. In my first Diesel (02
Crew Cab Lariat 4x4) Igot the truck from an individual about 2 months
ago and it had never been towed or modded in anyway. I have since,
joined powerstroke diesel .org, Learned some things about the psd, and
have added the following : MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust with 5"tip,
Tymar intake, TS performance 6 position chip (stock,Hi idle,
50,75,100,140), and I watch it all on the quadzilla commander. I was
poking around and found you fellas and this carolina site. Cool. I am
tired of doing all my learning over the net. I want to meet some
people and learn in person. It will take me awhile to learn my way
around here cause im far from computer savvy!!LOL. Anyway, Ill stop
for now and look forward to getting to know some of you.
I have sent this as a special notice, that is why you recieved this if
you have selected the no-email option.
Performance Diesel and Rhino linings of Charleston is having David

For those of you who may not have made plans already, this is just a
quick reminder of the Greenville dyno-day and general get-together.
Saturday, October 7th at Automotive Specialists in Mauldin, SC.
Officially starts at 10:00 and Dunbar hopes to pack up around 6
p.m. I'm certain some of us will be hanging around even past that
time.
David Dunbar will be there with the dyno, sponsored by DP-Tuner w/ 3
runs for $30
DP-Tuner will be there with tuning goodies (please order prior to
Saturday if at all possible).
Food and beverages will be served - the grill will even have
stacks!!! BBQ, Burgers, and Hotdogs on the grill. Tea and Lemonade
available as well. Please bring enough $$ to help cover the costs.
If you want other libations, please provide them yourself.
Kids are not shunned. I'll have 1 or 2 of mine and there will be a
couple of others.
Lots of fun going on with the Palmetto Bio-Fuels rep there; some
folks bringing some spare parts, new unused parts, and slightly used
stuff; NAPA store will have a display.
We've determined that over 150 flyers have been passed out around
town regarding this event, so it could prove to be much bigger than
our online response indicates.
Look forward to seeing some of you there!

It's going to be great hangout day,
Just letting everybody know that CarolinaPSD now has it's own forum at
www.thedieselgarage.com .
I'm hoping that we can focus are conversations there and use the yahoo
groups email list for mostly special notifications. Feel free to
still talk here if that is what you desire. I figure we can grow our
fledgling organization more by having a forum where we can better
organize our threads and conversations. My screen name will be
"thehammer69" over there. I and Raymond, aka "plainredtruck", will be
the moderaters of the club forum. Any questions, opinions, or
desires...just holler at one of us.
Thanks

The fledgling Carolinas PSD group announces a Dyno Day and general get together in Greenville, SC on October 7th from 10 am - until.
Sponsored by DP-Tuner w/ Dunbar and his Dyno - $30/3 runs!!!
I'm certain Jody will stay as busy as ever with tuning and showing off the new F5, so make certain to contact them prior to the event if you hope to get some new goodies!
Bill Leverette is a fledgling Tymar dealer and should be able to help some folks with some goodies. There may even be a Snap-On dealer there for those of you with a tool budget.
We'll probably have burgers & dogs &
chips. Anybody who wants to help cook/supply goodies - your assistance is appreciated.
We're checking into a local motel for those of you who find you need to spend the night for one reason or the other.
This event is open to all makes & models but we're really hoping the Ford folks will make a good showing! There will likely be more discussion about future events and the formation of Carolina PSD as something more than a nebulous of ideas and the occasional event. We'll see.
We may have a few special projects going on during the day, but nothing certain. Anybody with projects that can be accomplished in a couple of hours or in less than a day and wants to do some showing off - let us know.
I plan to have a transmission in the back of the truck and work on modifying the front pump. Folks can get a look at how to
change a valve body as well (but my BTS VB is already installed!). Bring your own tools!
Raymond
Do you Yahoo!? Get on board. You're invited to try the new Yahoo! Mail Beta.
me, hubby, son and dogs drove up to the Indy rally. Had a blast!!!
Truck ran smooth pulling our trailer. It was a 15+ hour drive, me and
hubby took turns driving. Went by way of West Va. and only slowed to
about 60mph on the steepest hills. Exhaust brake came in real handy on
the down sides!! The race was great and I (about 30 of our trucks
total) was able to have my truck in the race before the start-up. That
was fun. Maybe next year, if they plan another rally, some of you guys
might want to drive up too?? We had to leave here on Wed night, rally
was Thur - Sat night and we left for home Sun morning. Now I can turn
my attention to some meets closer to home!! Tina
Hey everybody!
I haven't had too much time to work on this, but I have been keeping
an eye on TDS and here. I haven't looked at thedieselgarage. I'll
have to check that site out.
If this location sounds like it would draw a crowd, then let me
know. I would need some feedback as to a date, and I can check with
the Dyno guys and work something out. Should we open it up to all
diesels, or just do PSD's?
I was also thinking about making it a "show and shine" type of event
too. We could drool over everyone's trucks, and swap tuning tips. I
know that I learned alot about my truck at SC's little GTG.
Also, I just purchased AutoEnginuity's scanning software, but have
alot of learning to do with it. Don, maybe you can come up with
an "AE guide for dummies".
Let me know guys when we want to do this, because I've never put
together something this big.
Michael
Anyone in Wilmington want to get together and help me plan? Hint,
Hint.....
You may want to read through the archives on the list (available through Yahoo groups) and contact wfdbackdraft (Michael) to see what's going on down East.
We should know something early next week about the Upstate gtg.
Raymond
Do you Yahoo!? Get on board. You're invited to try the new Yahoo! Mail Beta.
thanks for the welcome!! I read about the possible meeting in Greenville, I think that's about 4 hours away, but I am definatly interesed in a meet up of PSD owners! Wilmington would be perfect for me, I'm definatly in if it's gonna happen. keep in touch!!

Don,
Welcome.
Keep your eyes open for an announcement about a couple of get-togethers. I know
there's one in the works for Upstate SC and Michael was working on one out in Wilmington.
We're starting to get some interest stirred up and look forward to meeting soon.

We hope to see our friends from the CarolinaPSD there.

Hello everyone.. Just wanted to let everyone know I have joined the
group. I am a 7.3 PSD owner (2001) and am domiciled in Belmont, NC.
Ran across this site through dieselstop.com. Looking forward to
chating with you guys/gals and maybe meeting some of you soon to talk
pwoerstrokes.
Later
I think the Wilmington idea is fantastic. I like the idea of a Dyno Day. I know it could be a big draw if planned well.
I think we should aim for something both places. Many folks couldn't make one or the other, so back-to-back weekends or something similar in the fall could be a big draw.
I just saw the intrest in another get together, and would like to
throw in the city of Wilmington as another location, if there is any
intrest. FOMOGO had brought to my attention after the SC event, that I
had a Dyno-Jet dyno right here in my town! So since then, I've been
kicking around the idea of doing a Diesel Wars Dyno Day. Would that be
of any interest to anybody? The rates are $75.00 for three runs, or we
could just rent the dyno for $600.00, for the whole day. If that's not
everyone's cup of tea, then there is always the beach. You can drive
out on the north end of Carolina Beach for $10.00 a day. It's a very
popular place for those of us with 4 wheel drive.
I just thought I'd throw that out if anyone is interested. I'm up for
another get togther with everybody. I learned alot last time, thanks
to all you guys that answered my questions. My ride is really comming
together.
Thans,
Michael

For dates I'm starting to think early to mid Sept. I think a better
time would be earliy Oct. With my current schedule the Oct date would
give plenty of time for planning to make this a great event. I would
like to do this on a Sat, possibly as an all day event. Let me know
what you think.
Bill
Maybe we can make this the new C-PSD get together that I have softly tried to push. I know I made mention to Diane and You to see if we can do one in the upstate or western NC since last years was in the low country. This may be the "bump" in motivation needed to make it happen.
