Hi.. I have a check engine light on in my Toyota that after going off
itself the last few times is now staying on. I've taken it to Advance
Auto & AutoZone to have it diagnosed & they both say it's the EGR
valve that's acting up..

Rather than replace the valve I talked to some other mechanics who
suggested replacing the air filter & cleaning the unit that holds the
air filter & then replacing the fuel cap.

Have these methods worked for other owners & if not then have other
owners tried cleaning the EGR valve & then the pipes leading up to the
EGR valve ?
