Description

(Picture: OSCSv2-2F1R-Solo-FWD concept by Arak Leatham) This group is intended to demonstrate interest in fuel-efficient, 3-wheel vehicles that bridge the gap between 2-wheel and 4-wheel transportation. For this purpose we have adopted the descriptive term "cabin scooters." Discussions hopefully will be primarily about determining design parameters for a new Cabin Scooter design, so that we can combine our efforts to convince vehicle manufacturers that the market for such a vehicle exists. For the purposes of this description it may be necessary to define types of cabin scooters. For that purpose the following definitions are proposed, based on top sustainable speed: Type I, top sustainable speed 45 mph or less, Type II, 55mph or less, Type III, 70 mph, Type IV, 80+mph, (Vortex, Tri-Magnum and similar). Further classification may include single, tandem two-seat, or side-by-side ("sociable") two-seat configurations, engine or fuel types. A vehicle over 1500 lbs (empty, dry) is considered a car by most licensing agencies in the US. Per HPV jargon, single front wheel designs are referred to as 1F2R or "delta," 2 front wheel design referred to as 2F1R or "tadpole." "Tilting" jargon indicates one or two front wheels, and total wheels tilting. Discussions may include past, present, or future 3-wheel production vehicles, "tilters" or "non-tilters," as well as one-offs, plans-builts, and homemade 3-wheelers, but the Primary Focus of this group is on production vehicles with an enclosed or enclosable cabin. Discussions that are off-topic should be noted as such, by including "OT" in the title; "Off-topic" means not having to do with vehicles that might be considered "cabin scooters." (The term "cabin scooter" is sufficiently vague as to allow considerable leeway.) Spamming isn't allowed, "FLAMING" isn't either, play nice please.
