Looking at replacing my stock '01 S3 rear shock in next 1000 miles and was wondering if anybody has experience with Penske or Works shocks? I am also curious...
The American Thunder Bike web is going to have a review / comparison on the Pen & Works shock soon. I myself am looking at those two for my X1 now. ... From:...

since I'm overdue for a new component of the week, and folks are already talking shocks, this week's component is: suspension. that includes the rear shock,...
Howdy Ya'll! I think my '00 X1 dives a bit too much under hard braking. It has 12K miles on it, but it's been this way since I bought it new. I've never...
They adjust your suspension. Are you competitively racing the Buell? If not why waste the money on valves, springs etc. Once a year change the oil and set your...
... There's an entire section about it in your owner's manual including factory recommended settings and a "trouble- shooting" chart. ... I had a professional...
Fred...when you get the answers to these questions, this would something good to bring up and discuss at ASBN....I too weigh more than 240 lbs. I think the ...
... Rex I think guys like you, me, Dusty, JimA etc. are stuck and probably need to leave the Buells to skinny guys like Wolf. :-) The GVWR of my X1 (I had the...
hello to all of you. i just got my xb " it was a salvage recovery with minimal damage" after a week of decals since you can't paint the scratches? I have...
time once again for another component of the week. this time it's tires and wheels, and all things related. that means tires (which do you use?), wheels (if...
Wolf - Did you notice any difference going to the 180? I've got the PM 5.5s also and have been thinking of going that route when I replace the stock 205s;...
Messagewhoops...sorry, my mistake. that's a typo...I meant to say "with the 170 rear", since, as you point out, dunlop recommends the 180. I went with the 170...
Good to know. Guess I'll have to check clearances if I decide to go the 180 in Dunlop 220s. Didn't used to be a problem with the older tires... Jim ... From:...
Messageyeah, that's one of the advertised "features" of the 220 over the 205 -- an "improved profile". when it's at a good pressure it does feel better than...
Well, I am riding the stock Dunlop 207's on my X1 and do not like the way they make the bike "fall" into turns. I was thinking of going to a lower profile ...

The "fall in" is a holdover from the Harleys, I believe. Easier for a novice to handle, but frustrating to experienced riders. The Firebolt lost this trait --...
I have stock Marchesinis on my '00 X1. After two D207s on the rear and one D207 on the front (roughly 10,000 miles), I decided I didn't like the way they wear...
... If you look at the rear 207 on the cast rim you'll notice there are two distinct arcs the tread makes from edge to edge. Aren't there when the 207 is...
Fred I have the cast polished also, so I will try to see this two arch thing you mentioned with the 207's. This is good info. ... From: Fred Fortune...

it's time once again for the component of the week. this week, it's the valve train -- cams, tappets, pushrods, rockers, valves, valve springs...heck, we'll...
This is REX..... -The only thing to have done so far on my M-2 , in the valve train area is to replace the Rocker box gaskets and have the umbrella valves...
Rex - I'd think your biggest bang for the buck would be a set of Thunderstorm or other aftermarket heads, or to get a good flow job to increase the breathing...
There are lots of mods that can be done to the valve train, few that the average person can really do themselves. Cams can be swapped, i.e. X1 cams in an M2...
S1, X1 and S3 cams are all the same. They'll give you a higher top end HP, you'll loose quite a bit of the midrange torque and HP that your M-2 already has....
Nallin is good. I have around 35,000 miles on my M-2 now. My thinking is to run up the miles to around 40,000-45,000, then go to 88 inch motor...REX I have...
I have a '00 X1 and wondered if there would be any benefit to putting M2 cams in it. I mostly ride in town with occasional forays into the Central Texas...
That's probably why my S3 has so little pull below 3000. When I had it on the track a month ago, the bike would hit a sweet spot at about 5000 that would push...
X1 cams net a higher peak HP than the M2 cams do. I don't know where the peak is exactly, haven't seen too many dyno charts of bone stock bikes. The M2 cams...
