Hi Guys,

I have joined the group a couple of weeks ago and have read a few postings by now.

I see that everyone is just as passionate about the e34 540i manual as I am. I inherited my dad's car when he passed away 7 years ago. She only had 36 000km's on the clock. Now she's got 90 000km's. 1995 model, registered in Jan 1996. Number 72 of 75 built/sold in SA. The colour is Madeira black-metallic, with light grey leather.

The spec that we got in SA is as follows:

The star mags, M5 aero body kit, with the big boot spoiler (which my dad removed, as it looks much better without it), sport seats with the M-colour stripes in the backrests, M-sports steering wheel (same as I saw on some of attached pics of Aussie LE's).

Standard equipment included a sunroof and car phone and the traction control (which was a first in SA e34's).

What we didn't get in our spec, seems to be of what I have read so far, is the electronically adjustable M5 suspension, M5 wing mirrors and illuminated gear lever. We only got sport suspension, which is nice and firm.

Extra's that were put on my car: stailess steel exhaust system which gave it an extraordinary sound - civilised at idle and low speeds but loud at higher revs. It's got a nice burble on the overrun as well.

I have just recently (200km ago) replaced the front and rear suspension bushes and fitted new tyres. It drives like a brand new car. Unfortunately I can not drive it every day, as it is a bit heavy on fuel in city traffic. I get about 14 l/100km in town trying hard not to enjoy myself too much. On the open road I get between 8 and 10 l/100km. Now in Rand terms it cost me about R650.00 to fill up. That is the same as 100 McDonald cheese burgers, if I could use that as a yardstick.

I attached a pic taken at the office today with my cellphone, will try and post more in future.

No, not the ASC. There's something on the console near the area of your left knee, just above the carpet line. ________________________________ From: David...
