Hi Max, I know all about the eyesight going away...
Yes circuit boards are still available. Let me know if you have any
luck replacing some of the IC chips. You can use some foam or other
filter material for the fan. Just save and reuse the aluminum housing.

Hi Bob
OK no ASC option.
Got monitor back, not sure if we went forward there or not...
Finished 1st attempt at repairing CPU board....
It is pretty sad....
The rubber filter material on the fan has broken down and this has
caused the corrision on the board. I sucked 3 chips off causing some PCB
damage which was a simple enough repair. Then I started looking at the
corrosion problem.... not pretty...... several tracks had gone open
circuit. These I jumpered across.....
Put sockets on for the 3 ICs, put it all back together and nothing, no
LEDs, so will have to pull the board and have another look, but pretty
hard going with my getting older eyesight ( and I used to do this for a
living once !!!! and laughed at the others who had trouble seeing .....
). The corrosion is pretty hard to spot as the track looks OK but dosn't
buzz, then when you start scratching you find there is no track left !!!!.
Will go and buy some more ICs on Monday and try that as well..
Any chance of circuits and or a replacement board??
Thanks

The ASC option would consist of a hard drive and floppy drive just to
the left of the circuit boards. If there is nothing but a motor and
squirrel cage fan then you don't have that option.
Corrosion on the CPU could cause the problem. Let me know what your
mate says.

Hi Bob
The first thing I tried was a clean of all the boards and connectors as
it was really dirty, some one had had the back panel off but it looked
OK and all the connectors seemed to go in the right place.
I bit of a dig around on this connector show that there did seem to be
something coming out, but since I don't really know what I am looking
for... I have a mate who is a TV / monitor man so I am trying to visit
him....
The top bin is a "969-2" CPUl. There is a damaged area of board at the
fan end just corrosion and some bad looking joints, I am about to suck
the chips off and rework that area.
ASC option ???? There was no handheld key pad that came with it, whould
there be a connector installed that said something like that...
I might try some photos tomorrow night so you can see what I can see.
Thanks

Max it is acting like the CRTC Board is not initializing. This is the
video controller PN5000929. Try reseating the board by first shutting
down the unit and removing the back panel. The large square panel
center right if you are looking at the unit from the back. It usually
has a hook attached to it. IF this unit has the ASC option there
should be a hand held keypad attached to the back of the unit. The
CRTC board should be about the third or fourth board down. It has a
VGA looking connector on the right side and a ribbon cable connector
on the left side of the board. The edges of the boards have small
flip out tabs. Flip these tabs towards the outer edge of the board
and firmly snap the it out of the socket that it is plugged into.
Reverse the procedure to snap it back in place. Check the other
connectors while you are back there to make sure nothing is loose.

If one or more LEDs stay on then the unit has locked up and it is setting a code through the LEDs. The monitor is probably ok and the problem would be in one of the PCBA's. I need to know which LED(s) are staying on. The LEDs turn on and off in sequence starting with the upper left working down the left column then down the right column. The pump is the 4gas cycling and sounds like it is working correctly.
Does this unit have a 230v plug?

Hi Max, I don't have any more manuals but mabye someone else does.
Several factors could cause no video. Do any of the red LEDs light up
in the center of the analyzer? Does the fan in the back of the unit
run? Any beeping sounds when powering on?

Not too sure myself where to get one, but the following website might
be able to help you..good luck in your quest!

I just bought an allen engine analyzer. It came with various comp. leads
and other misc. however, no manual or master disk. When I first tryed
it out to see if it worked, it did, so I made room in my shop for it,
cleaned it up and sorted thru the cables. Now when I plug it in to the
on board computer in my jeep, it keeps telling that there is no
conection or the key is not on. I checked all leads including a full
continuity test and everything is fine. If I switch over to the scope,
everything works fine.
Could someone please point me in the right direction for info on this
machine and tell me were I might locate a manual for it because I
really am out of quarters on this one and I don't get stumped easy.

We do both. You can send us the head or heads and we will repair,
calibrate and test the head and return it to you usually within one
day of receiveing it. We do service calls up to 200 miles away from
Memphis. Over 200 miles becomes rather expensive and may not be cost
effective. Let us know if we can help you further.
