Re: [AMC Pacer] removing '76 coupe back seat

If I remember correctly when I re carpeted I use a two inch wide wrecking bar with a slight bend to it. Insert between the seat and the floor. Force the bottom of the seat to the rear and it should pop out of the holder in which it is inserted. And...if I remember correctly it was damn near as much fun getting it back into the holder when the new carpet is in !!!!!!!  Incidentally I recently redid the plastic panels from the B pillar back and the headliner, using SEM. (The can says SEM is not a dye but a "cover"). One quart cost $41.00 plus $10 mixing/blending fee. A cleaning solvent designed for plastic cost another $14 plus sponge brushes for a total of $75. Looks good !! Well worth it. I will probably do a second coat later. I only used less than a pint.

How do you get the back seat out? I can't see any bolts underneath, but if I lift up on it, it doesn't move much. I want to replace the carpet, and I imagine the task will go better with the seat removed. Thanks in advance.

Nolan is correct. You need to push back on the lower front edge of the seat cushion to release it from an inverted c-shaped retainer on each side of the car....
