Thanks for the reply John, I've got my mechanic coming by today so hopefully I'll have a health update later in the day.

Jenn,
I have followed your thread, and since you're getting good advice, I haven't added much.
Guys like Jeff Speegle (Asst. Head National Judge for the MCA), Dave Mathews (1967 SAAC Registra), and Bob Gaines (One of the most knowledgeable Shelby Mustang Judges I ever met and owner of car #0001) are the people who can really help you the most. I've met worked with and can even call some of these guys friends - believe me they are the people that make this hobby worth while.
BTW, you mentioned POR-15 as a paint stripper. It is not. POR-15 is the flagship product of the POR-15 Corporation, which calls it's automotive products division Restomotive Laboratories. They are in NJ. POR stands for "paint over rust". It is a rust encapsulating formula for places where you can't or don't want to weld in new metal. It is truely amazing; it actually dries faster when it's humid out than when dry.
POR-15 is great for chasis work, the bottom of your doors, trunks, pick-up truck beds, etc. A similar product is Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator.

Hi Alan, Thanks for the reply. Any help and/or referrals would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to do most of the body work in regards to rust/paint removal and priming myself just to save a little cash in the labor department. Other than that I'll defiantly need an expert for engine and electrical issues. I really want this to be a hands on project, and learn as much as possible in the process. Have you heard of a liquid paint stripper called POR 15? I ordered some last night and was curious if anyone had used it with solid results. Thanks again, Jenn

JENN: I recently had my ¢67 GT350 restored by a man in Concord , CA
I would highly recommend him. I¢m sure that he would come over to take a look at your Shelby and give you an idea of the expense to put it into the condition that you would want. Let me know if you are interested. I would be happy to send you a photo of my car.

I'm located in the bay area peninsula, just south of San Francisco , CA . We just moved so I'm still trying to find the upload cable for my digital camera. I'll post pictures as soon as I find the cable or get a replacement. Thanks for the warning, I won't be giving out many specifics on the car due to prior experiences. Jenn

Where is the car located? Please send pics of car in its present condition... .AND..... ....this is VERY important. DO NOT give out the serial number of this car to ANYONE!!! THe car will probably have be stripped to bare shell, dipped, and blasted to ascertain the extent of damage. This club would be glad to help as much as we can from a distance, that is why we are here. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _ Rock Solid Web Hosting.
