Hello group, newbie with a question about tyres   Message List

Hi,

I have an '84 r18 American 2 (based on a GTS) with 5J x 13 alloy
wheels. It is currently on 165 x 13 Hankook winter tyres but they are
old and weren't good from the start. I think 155 or even 145 would be
a better width for really good grip in snow. What do other people
use? Also, I'm worried about finding tyres of these sizes with the
right load index (the load index is the number next to the speed
rating letter, typically between about 75 and 90 for most cars and it
shows how much vehicle weight the tyre can safely support). A Renault
18 has a lot of weight on the front axle. Who has some advice for me?

Thanks in advance,

Scott
