FS: 1984 Renault 18 Sportwagon x2   Message List

I have two 1984 Renault 18 Sportwagons I'd like to sell. They are
identical in options and features from the factory. Both are 2.2L
inline 4, 5-speed manual transmission cars. They have power front
windows, manual rear windows. One runs and one is a parts car.

The one that runs has been my (nearly) daily driver for almost a year.
She has almost 100000 miles. She's had regular oil changes and is
currently sitting on basically new tires. Always starts right up in
the mornings, even in the cold. The interior is in pretty good shape,
not perfect; a couple of cracks in the plastic but nothing major. The
speedometer needle is in the process of rotting off, which is a common
problem for these cars, I guess. It tends to stick at 20 or 30 MPH,
until you go over 45, then it comes back around. This does not affect
the odometer. The paint is fading, typical for a 21 year old car. The
radiator has been patched twice due to leaks... nothing major. The
worst problem with the car currently is it's impossible to get into
reverse gear. It just went out one day and I have not been able to get
it to engage since. Most of the typical things to look out for are
fine, including the parking brake, the power windows, temperature
gauge, and such. I had exhaust work done fairly recently.

The one that doesn't run is about one step up from being a basket
case. The frame is rusty, there are no brakes, the interior is not the
best, and it's currently full of random parts (like a breather for a
Ford 232 V6, for instance). I assume the transmission is good but I
don't know. The engine has been started and running for a few minutes
at a time, within the last few months, but there's no way I'd drive it
anywhere. It's currently sitting on four flat tires.

I'd like to sell both together to someone who will take care of them
(or at least the one that works, and use the other for parts).
NADAguides.com says a 1984 Renault Sportwagon is worth $1400 retail,
but I'm familiar enough with these cars to know I'm not likely to find
someone willing to spend that much on them. Make me an offer I can't
refuse and they're yours. Come pick up in western NC or I can probably
deliver them a short distance for a reasonable fee. E-mail me directly
with any questions.

Thanks,
Eric Sechrist
